Premise: Based loosely on the real-life story of the race to bring a vaccine to a remote town in Alaska. The weather is too bad for anything but sled dog teams and their heroic efforts spawned the Iditerod Race.
The planet the ship crash lands on is in the process of becoming tidally locked where one side always faces its star and is burning hot and the shadow side is freezing cold. A thin zone in between is 'just right'. In this case, that thin zone moves, forcing the crash survivors to follow it around the planet or risk being frozen or incinerated.
